We hiked through the woods at Irvine Nature Center and learned how to identify maple trees, how to tap the trees for sap and how to boil it into syrup in the evaporator.
Eli stayed nice and warm inside Mommy's jacket and slept throughout most of the hike.
It takes approximately 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of maple syrup. That is Micaiah standing off to the left watching the sap in the evaporator.
The boys favorite part of the trip...tasting maple sugar candy.
