well not really a self portrait but I am actually in front of the camera this time :)  We enjoyed an evening out this Christmas season and it was lovely.

Week 49:52 {Nativity}...

I saw this Playmobil Nativity Set years ago on clearance at Target. The main section of it is cardboard but it has held up well from years of use. Each of the boys have enjoyed using their imagination to retell the Christmas story.  It is one of our favorite Christmas "traditions."

This afternoon William was helping the angel fly around the nativity scene. So I stayed back and snapped some pictures.

Song Family Session...

This family reminds me of why I love shooting family sessions.  Laughter, authenticity and fun are just a few of the words that describe the Song Family.  I sympathize with Steve a little (given he's outnumbered just like me).  We met at a friends farm...so we ended the session with pictures of the girls with the chickens!

Christmas Tree Farm...

We don't really have a tradition when it comes to picking a Christmas Tree. There have been years we cut it down and years when life was so busy Wes just went to the Lowes and picked one out. This year since Eli had no memory of cutting one down, we decided to go to the Christmas tree farm. It was really picked over so we almost left and went to Lowes but we made the most of it...

The Polar Expresss...

Anyone that has spent anytime with William knows he is very fond of the Polar Express. A few years ago we found a discounted Lionel Polar Express Train at an outlet and purchased it for him for Christmas. He played with that train so much that Wes had to solder the wires back together a few times. For the last year or so it was beyond repair. Then Pap John took it for a while and rewired it...so William has been playing with it once again. 

 Recently, the B and O Railroad Museum had the Polar Express visit so we spent some time there on Thanksgiving Weekend.

Sweet Harper Rose...

When my cousin asked me if I would be able to swing taking some Christmas pictures on our busy Thanksgiving weekend I didn't hesitate for a second. I absolutely will take any time I can spend with this sweet, pleasant little GIRL!  

And before you ask if I Photoshopped her eyes the answer is no.  Her baby blues are stunning...no Photoshop needed (which is good because I don't use it:)

Week 46:52 {Trees}...

Wes remembers sitting in this little church with his grandma and grandpap over 30 years ago...last row on the right. At her funeral he sang "The Old Rugged Cross", just like he did at her side as a little boy. It was a beautiful tribute.

Frain Boys...

I feel like I know these boys as well as my own. Our families home schooled together for a couple of years so we were together a lot.  It has been a blessing for our boys to line up on soccer and baseball teams over the past several years. This has allowed us both to stay somewhat sane during a very busy season in our lives...plus it's a blast for the boys.  Most importantly though, the mom of these boys stepped in during one of the most difficult times for our son Joshua and loved him so well...lifting him up and encouraging him and I watched his confidence soar.  We are forever grateful. 

During our time together for pictures we worked hard to capture genuine smiles and authentic boy craziness.
