"Rain, rain don't go away...

...oh we need you this dry and dusty day." Caedmons Call
It really rained today...it seemed like a downpour at times. What is it about the rain in early spring that makes the colors so vibrant? There are times in life when it seems like it is "raining" and you're tempted to ask "why" but I know one thing...it is in those times that we realize He is all we need. So as the tulips that Wes and the boys planted grew heavy with rain...

Joshua and I decided to make the most of it...

Our day of rest...

What a beautiful day...Eli experienced the grass for the first time...
Joshua enjoyed spraying the hose...

Micaiah played "imaginary baseball" (thanks Dad for inventing this and making it "so cool")...in this picture he is trying to scare away the other team...

Micaiah wanted to share his baseball hat with Eli...

too cute!

Bridal Wreath and Baseball?

I'm trying to nurse a broken toe, so the sun room has become my hideout. It's perfect...I can see Micaiah and Joshua play in the backyard while Eli exercises all over the floor. Plus everything is in bloom so it's beautiful. Today I noticed Micaiah pulling the flowers off of our Bridal Wreath...when I asked him what he was doing he said "I'm just checking to see how it flies to see if I can use it to lime the field." When he realized that it would work we agreed to one more branch...but of course that wasn't enough. Thankfully, I was on the phone with my mom who said "Why don't you give him an alternative, what else could he use...how about flour?"

And so it began...all around home plate and all the way to first base.

Micaiah and Joshua took turns batting (pretend of course because they have no pitcher until Daddy gets home now) and running the bases on the newly limed field.

"Going, going...gone!" Right through the shed window! Micaiah was devastated but has recovered...all baseball players break a window at some point right?

"Well, It's a valuable appendage!"

For all of you that are still having fun with my injury, not to mention any names (Susan)...here are some pictures. Be thankful I changed them to black and white...it spares you the bruising! So here you are Susan...

See there has always been a joke in the family that my Dad and I have french fry toes...in fact we have a little song we sing (don't worry I'll spare you) that the kids have grown to love. Susan swears that it was going to happen sooner or later since they stick out there so far. You know... if she wasn't like a sister to me I'd probably hurt her!

If this blog is seriously about finding the sacred in the everyday...mmmm let me see...
-this has definitely slowed me down
- I took my first nap in many months yesterday because I couldn't do anything else
-I will no longer take my "pinky toe" for granted...trust me Kramer knew what he was talking about...it is a very valuable appendage.
-I will still beat Wes in our "best body on the beach" contest!

Exercise time...

Eli is getting ready for his workout for the day...look at the excitement. All of the following pictures were taken within a 20 minute time frame.

Rocking on all fours...

Who says babies don't do crunches?

He is either stretching or working on his reach...

Now he decides to do some chin ups and realizes there are some really fun toys up there...

So he decides to pull himself up from a sitting position to get a better look...

"Ah...now this is better!"

I have a feeling the adventure is just beginning! Where are those baby gates?

Baseball, Friends and a Birthday Party

We celebrated Eli B's birthday party today. It was a beautiful day at Historic Emory Grove (a historic Methodist camp created in 1868). Micaiah and Eli B. were on the same baseball team together last year and Eli's dad and Wes coached together. We are on the same team again this year.

This is Joshua at the target practice station...yes, he is definitely a lefty!

Look at the intensity on Micaiah's face...nothing motivates like a little candy.

Daddy doing double duty with his boys...

The invitation mentioned a surprise...but we could have never guessed! Look it's the Oriole bird...

"The Bird" posed for a picture with Micaiah and Joshua...and autographed Joshua's baseball.

the boys had so much fun...

Fireboat tour...

Today we joined our homeschool field trip group and toured Baltimore City's fireboats.

Micaiah is sitting in the engineer's chair... who is driving the boat?

Watch out! The captain can't see where he is going!

Eli enjoyed the beautiful weather and the fireboat tour in the backpack.

This is a picture of a sailboat the boys spotted on the water...they called it Captain Hook's ship.
The fireboat water display ...

the boys enjoyed this part of the trip the most.

You may ask..."Is life with boys really an adventure?" I'll let this last picture speak for itself!

Does anyone see our little angels?
