Little BMore Drummer Boy's Middle School Winter Concert...

It was a joy to watch Micaiah last night in his first band concert.  I think it brought back many memories for Wes from his band days...

Here are two videos of the performances last evening...

Trains, Trains and More Trains...

It seems like all little boys go through a fascination with trains.  Some more than others.

Our oldest loved Thomas the Tank Engine and all of his train friends.  Our second liked trains but not as much as the first.  Boy #3 was much more into making the tracks that the trains would run on than the trains themselves.  Boy #4 has taken the train fascination to a whole new level.

We have spent many afternoons riding the light rail train.
But he loves steam engines better than diesel or electric trains.  Especially the Western Maryland Steam Engine.
For example, we went to the library the other day and he said to the librarian at the information desk...
"I want a train book but the train can't have eyes, a nose or a mouth."
So she led us to the adult section and he left with a handful of books that he was thoroughly excited about!

So anytime we pass through Cumberland we make it a point to chase the steam engine.  He has recently become a little more anxious about hearing the train whistle so sometimes he demands to watch the train from the car.  This time while we were waiting for the Steam Engine a CSX train passed by...

The boys played while we waiting for the steam engine to cross the railroad bridge and then we followed it to the station to see it up close and personal.

Frosty the Snowman

He has been practicing a few Christmas songs but this is a favorite that we hear frequently throughout the house...

Fun with Poppy...

The boys told Poppy earlier in the week that they wanted to have a snowball fight when they saw him over Thanksgiving.  Poppy joked that he was going to be ready just like Elf.
Well, he wasn't joking.  When they got out of the van he opened up his cooler full of snowballs and fired them in rapid succession...of course I didn't get out of the car fast enough to capture his attack but I did capture the boys retaliation!

Thanksgiving at Grandma's...

We had a blast with family at Grandma's house.  It's always such fun to see the cousins playing together and brothers resorting to their childish ways.

Can't quite remember what we were laughing at here but I can almost guarentee you that there was snorting that followed...
We topped off Thanksgiving dinner with Home Alone 2.  I think Pap John enjoyed it just as much as the kids.

Cousin Shenanigans...

They always have fun when they get together...it's such a joy to watch...

Thanksgiving at Mom Mom's...

The trip to Western Maryland was a beautiful one this Thanksgiving.
We stopped to take a self timer picture at Sidling Hill...and I love it in all it's imperfections...
I always look forward to my mom's cooking and the boys look forward to her homemade chocolate pie.  She spent more time than usual on this pie to make it just right...I think the boys appreciated every minute she spent.  After one bite of pie Will declared "I love Thanksgiving!"

the last time we had chocolate pie with Mom Mom the boys went a little crazy with the whipped cream and this time was no different...at least we were prepared!

We got to visit with Aunt Shelley too.  She and Josh have always had such a sweet relationship...I love watching him when he's with her.  And Will let Mom Mom know just how much he loves her...

Week 48:52 {Timeless}...

Woodburn Hall on the campus of West Virginia University is now over 138 years old.  It is the oldest part of the WVU campus and a symbol of the university.  But these facts aren't what makes it special in my eyes.

Almost 20 years ago on the steps outside Woodburn Hall, I was first introduced to Wes.  This Thanksgiving we rode through town and snapped a picture as the snow fell...
