Early Morning Light...

I've been captivated by the fall color of the dogwood tree in our yardI've tried multiple times to capture it and haven't been happy with the result.  Here is an example of one of the pictures that I took while my brother was visiting.  It shows the color nicely but the shot is poorly composed.  I still looked at this and thought it didn't truly capture it's beauty.

This morning while I was walking Bella I noticed that overnight we had our first frost.  I went back out with my camera to attempt to capture the frost on the leaves and grass blades...unfortunately, the sun had peeked out enough to change the frost to droplets...

...but it had also risen enough to highlight the colors of the dogwood beautifully...

Halloween 2014...

the younger boys each had a parade at their school the morning of Halloween...

Micaiah joined in the fun that evening dressed as a "CIA" agent to go with his friend the Navy Seal...with the look on the other boys faces I think he has enough undercover work to do right at home!

Week 44:52 {My Happy Place}...

So I missed a couple of weeks but I'm jumping back in with one of my absolute favorite things...

...catching the sunrise out of our kitchen window.  The colors change so quickly as the sunrises.  These two pictures were taken minutes apart one morning last week.

Kammer Family Pictures...

I love when you meet someone and your conversation quickly moves beyond surface level to the deep and real things in life.  That's exactly how I felt when I met Mindy for the first time and even though we don't see one another often the conversation is always authentic.  It was a pleasure to capture her adorable family from behind the lens.

Neighbors...

They made us feel welcome from the beginning.  My boys still talk about the ice cream party they had so we could meet our new neighbors shortly after we moved in.

Their spot in the neighborhood is absolutely one of my favorites.  We met for family pictures during a break in the rain one afternoon.  The colors are always more vibrant after a rain.  It's times like these that I realize just how much I love exercising this creative outlet...they would probably all laugh right now if they heard the phrase "just one more picture."

Reflections...

It's Monday morning and we've already dealt with no clean shorts and socks, a meltdown over school being too long and boring and tears just as the bus pulls up and picks up one and pulls away as one is stands in the garage in tears.

Sometimes this is just how Mondays feel...
We get back from dropping the bundle of tears off at school and as Will gets out of the van he spys the new swing Wes hung the day before...
He sat himself down on the new swing did the familiar scootch side to side to position himself just right before yelling,
"Mom, will you push me on the swing superhigh?"
"Sure buddy...hold on tight" I say as I walk toward the swing.
I pushed him once (not high enough to his liking) so I pushed a little higher the second time.  That's when my perspective changed.

I saw him amidst the bright blue sky with big beautiful cotton ball clouds...and how the tree branches framed him just right.

"Will I want to take a picture of you."

As I reflected on the picture...I saw a few things...trust, risk and the reward of taking on new challenges.

It reminded me all over again how my default is worry and fear.

Will called on me to push him, he trusted that I would keep him safe...he took the risk to embrace the new swing.

We are at a crossroads on a few different areas of life and parenting and I've been fretting and fearful.   Watching Will this morning reminded me...
I serve a God who wants me to trust him, to take risks and press into Him as I embrace new challenges.  He is willing and able to walk with me through whatever this life may bring my way.
